Donaghadee Heritage is a local charitable company that has taken over the task of conserving the historic lifeboat Sir Samuel Kelly. Its aim is eventually to create a maritime heritage centre in Donaghadee, in which the lifeboat would form a focal point.
The company is in dialogue with Ards and North Down Borough Council and with the National Lottery Heritage Fund about progressing its plans. While the conservation work is proceeding, the company arranges events (COVID permitting) designed to promote interest in the project and to raise funds for it. It seeks to involve local schoolchildren in the project, which is recognised to have significant educational value.
New members of the company are always welcome.
