Shorefront Scene’s a Winner for Martin
The winner of Donaghadee’s April photography competition was Martin Logan with his evening shot of Donaghadee shorefront. Martin is pictured here receiving a £50 voucher for Bull & Claw Restaurant.
Speaking after the presentation Martin said “I was waiting with my daughter Emma to photograph the full moon rising over the pier, and decided to take a few “Magic Hour” shots in the meantime. I particularly liked this one as it was the most atmospheric.”
The judges, Mark Sweeney, Donaghadee Coop Store Manager, and Murdo Murray, NI Coop Member Pioneer Coordinator said “The Donaghadee Coop Store was delighted to be asked to nominate the winner of this month’s photography competition. We had a difficult task in selecting this month’s winner but Martin edged the others mainly because he captured the evening scene with the shorefront lit up on a moonlit cloudless evening” Referring to the Co-op support for the local community Murdo Murray said “The Coop is proud to be a part of and supportive of the Donaghadee community. The Coop’s Local Community Fund raising funds for local community groups is currently open for application. Details are available from the Coop’s website and I can help with any queries at – murdo.murray@coop.co.uk”
The competition is organised by the Donaghadee Community Development Association. The Association, a charity based in Donaghadee, intends to produce a “Shop Local” calendar for 2022. Each month the judges will choose an image which best captures something about Donaghadee in that month, whether a landscape, community festival or seasonal event etc and the winning photographer is presented with £50 voucher for a meal in a restaurant in Donaghadee. The calendar will be composed of the 12 winning entries and the image judged champion of champions will feature on the calendar cover.
