Home-Start North Down helps families with young children who are going through a difficult time. We support families for many different reasons including: • Loneliness and isolation • Multiple births or several pre-school children • Ill health or disability of a child or a parent Home-visiting volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience.

They visit the family at home, usually once a week. Volunteers are fully trained, checked and are carefully matched with families. Volunteers offer practical help, a listening ear, help with keeping appointments, understanding, information on what else is available locally and an extra pair of hands.

This non stigmatized approach makes this an attractive option for many families Through our work we support families with young children, to help them reach their developmental potential up to their successful transition to primary school.
