Kelly’s Coal Boats and Donaghadee Coal Merchants

Donaghadee Heritage Preservation Company Times 7.30 pm The Kelly business started in Belfast in 1840 and from the 1860s the Kelly Coal boats were transporting coal around our coasts, bringing coal into Donaghadee for many years. Kelly Wilson, a great-grandson of John Kelly will tell the story of his family and their vessels. Dr Robert Neill will also entertain us with a talk about our local coal businesses.. Entrance £5 in aid of the Sir Samuel Kelly Project. The lifeboat was originally funded by the Kelly family.
